  • Quietude

There is a specific kind of silence that only exists just before dawn—a time when the earth feels most private, yet most alive. I painted "Quietude" to capture that "slumbering" blue light, where the fog isn't just weather, but a heavy, luminous blanket reflecting the first shy hints of the morning dusk. I wanted to immortalise that threshold where the world is caught between a deep sleep and a soft awakening.

In the distance, the iconic silhouette of Mt. Fuji stands as a silent, steadfast witness to this daily renewal. But for me, the heart of this piece lies in the immediate foreground: a sprawling field of lavender, its deep purples softened by the cool mist. This isn't just a visual choice; it is a sensory one.

I painted this scene because I wanted to invite the viewer to do more than just look—I wanted them to breathe. As you move through the lavender, you can almost catch that sharp, clean "morning smell" of dew mixing with the calming fragrance of the blooms. It is an intentional call to pause. In the stillness of this bluish hour, my hope is that the tightness we often carry in our chests begins to yield. As that cool, floral air fills the lungs, the internal noise fades, replaced by a rhythmic, healing peace.

This painting is my visual prayer for anyone seeking a moment to simply be—allowing the earth to exhale its quiet strength into our spirits.
