Liberté was born out of a desire to give form to a truth that often evades us: that true, spacious freedom is never cheap, but is dug out of the dirt through cost, collapse, and resurrection. Using the historical lineage of the Flanders poppy, this triptych anchors itself in the paradox of beauty emerging from brokenness. Just as the artillery shells of the First World War disrupted the soil to awaken dormant seeds, our deepest spiritual and emotional growth often requires a sacred shattering of our defenses. Through the intentional structural framework of the triptych, the three panels trace a deliberate movement mirroring both the counsellor’s couch and the road of Christian discipleship: a journey from the heavy silence of Discovery, through the painful vulnerability of Acceptance, to the radiant, Spirit-empowered threshold of Actualisation. By rendering this divine ecosystem—the anchoring sky, the bursting scarlet petals, and the sustaining soil—I invite the viewer to step into the landscape not merely as an observer, but as a participant. My hope is that as you stand before this vibrant yet profoundly still horizon, you are met with the ultimate relief of being fully known, radically accepted, and empowered to bloom fiercely into the full, beautiful freedom you were always destined to inherit.
